Human Liver Cell Atlas (HLiCA) published on CAP
We are excited to announce that the Human Liver Cell Atlas (HLiCA) is now publicly available on CAP. Developed in close collaboration with the Human Cell Atlas Liver Biological Network, the HLiCA brings together the collective expertise of liver biologists, clinicians, and data generators to create a community-driven healthy reference for the human liver. It integrates eight published and unpublished datasets comprising more than 520,000 cells from 110 donors, making it the largest and most genetically diverse human liver cell atlas to date.
The liver is a remarkable organ with a unique capacity for regeneration and plays essential roles in metabolism, detoxification, protein synthesis, and immune regulation. The HLiCA provides expert-curated annotations for 47 distinct cell types across six major lineages, established through dedicated community annotation meetings. The atlas will continue to evolve through ongoing community contributions, incorporating new datasets, technologies, and populations to refine our understanding of human liver biology.
