Fibroblasts are essential cells that sculpt the architecture and cellular microenvironments within various tissues. Understanding fibroblast heterogeneity and their spatial context in health and disease has major clinical relevance. In this study, we constructed a spatially-resolved atlas of human skin fibroblasts from healthy skin and 23 skin disorders. Here, we present data for healthy skin fibroblasts. We identified six major fibroblast clusters: F1: Superficial, F2: Universal, F2/3: Perivascular, F3: FRC-like, F4: Hair follicle-associated, and F5: Schwann-like fibroblasts. We used complementary spatial genomics methods (10x Visium, 10x Xenium 5k) to validate the presence of each of the six fibroblast subtypes and reveal their distinct microanatomical locations within human skin.
